Class Offerings

All private lessons offered at Silhouette Studio are specifically catered to your needs.  That could include, but is not limited to goals such as increased flexibility, injury prevention or recovery, stress relief, weight loss, and the list goes on and on.  No one class is alike because no one student is alike!  However, should you want to stick with some yoga you are familiar with and/or interested in learning about, Silhouette Studio offers a variety of standard yoga style classes for you to enjoy.  While Silhouette does not offer a group setting for these classes, what we do offer is instruction in various forms of yoga, curated to fit your needs.  Some of the standard yoga styles we offer are Vinyasa, Restorative & Power yoga, all detailed below.  Or, since your lesson is for YOU, we can combine them all!  Keep reading for more information about these various styles of class and see what might make your world a little brighter!

Vinyasa

One of the most popular forms of yoga practice in the world today, Vinyasa Yoga is characterized by connecting postures seamlessly using the breath; classes are variable, with no two ever being the same, distinguishing them from “fixed” classes such as Bikram or Ashtanga.  By changing the focus, intent, breathwork, and poses, vinyasa classes help develop a more balanced body as well as prevent injuries that result from repetitive movement.  Silhouette vinyasa classes, specifically, focus on the beauty of transition, the space in between, and how the poses and breath all fit into the framework of living with ease.  Classes are often based around a theme, offering prompts for personal exploration, while moving through asanas (poses) that support the intention of the class.  Each class includes guided breathwork, a warm-up, flows with poses of varied levels of difficulty and intention, a cool down and a brief period of either guided meditation or quiet savasana to conclude.  Expect a breath-initiated practice that connects actions in our lives with the intention of moving toward what is most important to you.

Restorative

Restorative Yoga is a form of the practice that encourages deep relaxation of the body and mind, without stress or strain.  Poses are held for longer periods of time than in a vinyasa or power class, often with the aid of props, to achieve relaxation through slow paced movement. Our parasympathetic nervous system is stimulated when we relax into poses, which will promote a relaxation response and reduce stress in they body.  Your heart rate and breath will slow, increasing blood flow to your vital organs and helping combat the physical and mental effects of everyday stress.  Restorative classes are a great supplement to an active yoga or exercise regimen and are also a great option to give yourself a break if you are feeling overly stressed or under the weather.

Silhouette Restorative classes place a heavy emphasis on the breath, to allow our bodies and minds to calm and reach a place of simultaneous vulnerability and relaxation.  These classes will not only offer a reprieve from the day-to-day freneticism that is rampant in our society, but they will also allow you a chance to safely open your mind and heart on your journey towards growth.

Power

Power Yoga classes have become increasingly popular and are the definition of what one might consider “modern” yoga.  Power yoga began as a modified Ashtanga class, eventually morphing into a class that could be described as “yoga for athletes.”  Silhouette power yoga classes are based on exercise and athleticism, getting your heart pumping with non-stop cardiovascular movement while simultaneously toning your body through specifically chosen poses and movement that encourage strength and power.  While these classes will follow a similar structure to our Vinyasa yoga classes, more time will be spent on movement rather than stillness to ensure you leave class exhilarated and ready for your day.  Katie’s love of exercise, in all forms, is showcased in these classes as she uses her extensive knowledge of the body and experience motivating through teaching to offer Silhouette members a one-of-a-kind workout experience.  Classes are accompanied by motivating and upbeat music and may include the use of light weights or other tools to help you reach your exercise goals.  If you are looking for a fun alternative to an exercise class, Silhouette’s power yoga classes will get you moving and sweating in a fun and supportive environment!
